In 2013 a group of students at the Institute of Education began what seemed at the time a rather daunting project to turn some of our urban, concrete environment into a pleasant, green space.
So far, we have created two gardens on the main terrace behind the Institute, our aim being to enhance the environment for everyone at the IOE.... including our birds, bats, bees and butterflies!

The IOE Gardens are at 20 Bedford Way, WC1H 0AL and are open to visitors every Friday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm when a member of the IOE Gardening Team will be available to answer questions and tell you more about the gardens. If you would like to visit at another time, please contact the project leader, Susan McGrath, at [email protected] or on 07812 558820.
The IOE Gardening Team meet every Saturday from 11am (weather permitting) and new volunteers are always welcome.
The garden project was made possble by a generous donation from IOE alumni that provided a set-up fund, and is maintained by fundraising events at the IOE. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed and hope that you will feel we are making good use of your kind donations.
